World Wise: The Arts and Humanities in the 21st Century: "Fables and Formulas: The Sciences and the Arts and Humanities Look at Each Other"

Description:
How do the arts and the humanities matter to scientists and to their work? Where might there be common ground for collaboration? Please join us for this intriguing roundtable discussion with esteemed panelists and moderator followed by an audience Q&A and a reception.

Introduction:
Dean James Harris, College of Arts and Humanities

Moderator:
Liz Lerman: Artist-In-Residence and choreographer, founder the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, MacArthur "genius" fellow, creator of Ferocious Beauty: Genome, in collaboration with the scientists of the human genome project.

Panelists:
Jordan Goodman: Professor and the former Chair, Physics, UM
Sandra Greer: Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry; and of Molecular and Biomolecular Engineering, UM
Eduardo Kac: a Chicago artist internationally recognized for his interactive net installations and his bio art
Matthew Kirschenbaum: Associate Professor of English, Associate Director, Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities, UM

Attendees are invited to a reception at 6:30PM, immediately following the presentation.
